Spirit Commissioner
August 16, 2023
ASB Report: August
Position Assessment: Spirit has been active for the past month preparing for the school year. So far, I have done inventory of the remaining Pride Tribe merchandise and sold them at POW WOW for incoming freshmen and parents to buy. The spirit commissioners decided to tie-dye the remaining “Indians” Pride Tribe shirts to sell at the first JV football game. We have purchased red tie-dye and bottles to do this project and will be completing this in the next following days. Also, I will have a meeting with Pendlton about football spirit themes and how we can motivate the student body to have more spirit.
Standing Committee: I am participating in Link Crew. We had a training day in August that helped prepare us for 8th grade orientation and this school year. I was in charge of 13 freshmen where I led them on a tour and answered any of their questions they may have about the next four years.
Special Committee: I am currently not participating on any special committee, but am willing to join some in the near future. I am helping out with the setup of the back to school dance and am looking forward to this year.
Mentorship evaluation: Hailey has been the best and is not afraid to ask for help. I find that she will be a great asset to this class. I have her phone number and am ready to get to know Hailey better as the school year progresses. We have so much in common and I am excited to help her along this journey of leadership.
Concerns: One major concern that I assume the majority of the class has, is the classroom situation. Although I am very grateful to have a space to do my work and communicate with my class, it makes bonding as a class very difficult and for us to simply do our work. Hopefully we are able to use the library as needed, such as work days.
Positive Comment: Jenna has already done so much for the leadership class and I am so proud of her and all the greatness she will bring to this class.
One change: I would change how we sit in the classroom. Maybe try and sort out a sitting arrangement by forcing certain grades to sit by each other.
My Impact: I am teaching the new Spirit commissions the rope of the game, while also trying to spice up spirit at Ripon High School.

ASB Report December
Position Assessment: The past few months, the spirit commissioners and I have continued to publicize and do spirit counts in each classroom for Warm and Fuzzy week, every Friday, Dude Be Nice Week, and College Spirit Day. I have filled our purchase orders for candy that will be passed out for every spirit day. In the month of December, I have calculated the total spirit points and their percentages and have made posts for our advisor to post on Instagram. I have also assisted in making the Spirit of the month for the fall semester.
Standing Committee: I have been making the Spirit of the Month to help promote spirit on our campus and activity on our campus. Spirit of the month has raised the spirit throughout the school, and helps students feel recognized for their doings.
Special Committee: I helped cut and stick up leaves for Dude Be Nice week, and have helped decorate the Freshman’s Door Decoration for the holidays. This helped connect to the student body and allowed them to know that ASB cares.
Mentor Evaluation: Hailey has been such a joy to be mentors with. SHe brings such joy to the class and I really enjoy her input. These past few months I have been in contact with Hailey, and doing the activities that Payton has assigned to the class, such as Snap Raise publicity, has allowed me to get to know her better.
Concerns/Change: The only concern I have for the time being is the class room and seating. I understand that this is a very fixed problem due to the circumstances that we are in, however, if we are able to use the library as much as possible that will promote unification of the class, and allow students to get work done more efficiently with a table.
Positive Comment: I have enjoyed the spirit commissioners and their hard work they have put in. Although it has not been the easiest journey, I believe that we have grown severely. Communication has improved.
Core Principles: I have embodied the core principle, Evolve and Grow with Change, by moving past difficult situations inside and outside the classroom. I have learned that not everyone will understand you, or listen to you even if you are doing the right thing. Especially with the Spirit Commissioners, I have found difficulty with feeling respected. Even though I am named Coordinator, does not mean that I am responsible for all of our work. I have bettered this situation with assigning and delegating work.
My Impact: I have continued to promote spirit in and outside the classroom. I hope I can be an influence to others to be themselves.

ASB Report: December - January
Position Assessment: Through the past few weeks, I have continued my duties of leading the spirit commissioners and taking on responsibilities past my job description. I have continued to do spirit counts throughout Winter Fest, College Spirit Days, Warm and Fuzzy, and every Friday. After each spirit day, all spirit counts are then sent to me and I have calculated the percentages and created a post for Morty to post on instagram. I have kept a log of each classes’ percentage and number of counts that were recorded that day. At the end of January, I helped calculate the averages for each class and updated the spirit board for the whole school to see. In addition, I have helped create posts for the girls and boys basketball themes on canva. Spirit had a meeting with Pendlton before the season started and got creative fun themes approved by administration. I then constructed a meeting with spirit with spirit where we divided up each canva post for each commissioner to do. I have also filled out two purchase orders for Morty to purchase candy from Costco.
Standing Committee: Throughout the past many weeks, I have continued to talk to Pendlton about Pride Tribe and incorporated Pendlton’s ideas with the Spirit Crew. By keeping Pride Tribe alive will hopefully help keep the spirit and positive energy consistent throughout the student body.
Special Committee: With WinterFest, I have helped the senior class transport the shopping cart from Home Depot to Ava Brocchini’s house where I helped brainstorm ideas. I helped with the lemonade stand and the filming of publicity for the kickoff of Winter Fest.
Mentorship Evaluation: Hailey and I have stayed in contact with each other and have asked each other questions when needed. Collectively, we both communicated our goals and looked up pictures together on what should be on our vision board. We decided on images that applied to our goals of finding success in school, internal happiness, and stronger friendships. I have appreciated these assignments because this has encouraged Hailey and I to take more time together and get to know each other better.
Concerns: My major concern has been repeated many times, yet that just proves the importance of it. I believe that the classroom setup has prohibited unity and even learning in the class as it is very easy to get distracted. I have taken into consideration that maybe it's just the large contrast it has to the library; however, I believe that the library had more benefits than this shared classroom. I understand that our resources are limited here in location, though I think that we should use the library as often as possible.
Positive comment: Marcus has really stepped up by being more responsible with getting his post done and his spirit counts to me as soon as he possibly can. I have seen much improvement from him.
Core Principle: “Evolve and Grow with Change” is the core principle that I have felt the most connected with these past few weeks. Realizing how my life is soonly about to change when I leave for college has influenced change within me. Things seem to become very slow the past few days, and the point of things has almost blurred. I am excited for what the future has to hold for me, but the anticipation is killing me.
My Impact: I have impacted my class by continuing to show spirit on every spirit day and keep upbeat spirit through the class.

March ASB Report
Position Assessment: During the month of March, I continued to do spirit counts and have created posts for ASB to be posted on the ASB Instagram page. These posts include Red and White Friday’s and College Day. Also on the Instagram page, I have created and interviewed the Spirit of the Month, Olivia Maragos. I asked her what her favorite spirit day was that she participated in, and asked for photos for the canva post. I have continued to calculate the total average of spirit points for each grade and have updated the Spirit Board in the Attendance Office. I have kept a log in order to keep me organized, and have something to refer to if mistakes are made.
Standing Committee: For Spirit of the Month, I and my fellow commissioners have made a post that highlights how spirited each chosen individual is. This is a great opportunity to not only give recognition of the efforts each chosen person has made, but to spread the word that being spirited is an honorable characteristic.
Special Committee: I am a part of the Gift to Students Committee within the Challenge. For this, I have created rough sketches, and assembled inspo collages that will help me produce efficient and aesthetically pleasing posters. I presented these ideas to the ASB class during the Challenge presentation. Also, as an elder, I gave my elder project on the topic of, “It is Okay to be Embarrassing.” I assigned homework and graded it and turned it into Morty the next day it was due.
Mentorship Evaluation: During the Challenge, Hailey and I connected as we were assigned the mentorship assignment and the “Dysfunctions of a Team.” By hearing her opinions and thoughts, allowed me to understand her thought process on these topics. Her and I have meaningful topics on what it takes to be a good leader and how to maintain a team. I believe that Hailey will do a great job in leadership next year, and is prepared to take any challenge that may occur.
Concerns/Change: One thing that I believe is a valid concern in the class is the lack of physical poster making. This has been a discussion for years; however, I believe by teaching students how to aesthetically inform students on what is going at Ripon High can be beneficial. Teachers and Administrators complain about students always being on their phones, yet why is our main source of communication to students online?
Positive Comment: Allie Camera has time and time again how dedicated she is to this program and what hse is passionate about. She puts in 110% effort into anything, and is not afraid of a challenge. Allie is a very reliable and trustworthy person, and she is going to be very successful beyond this program.
Core Principle: Throughout this past month, I have made efforts to show that I am impeccable. College admissions have consumed my mind, yet I did not let that stop me from getting me distracted with school. School has been tough this year, but I have continued to study and do my work. Although this is a small example, this is a very important one for me as school has always been a struggle for me.
My Impact: My impact to the class is being real and honest to everyone. I try to treat everyone the same and give everyone a fair chance. This is harder said than done and I am proud of being consistent with this behavior. This correlates to my elder project as everyone should not be embarrassed to be friends with those who do not seem to be “cool” to the majority.
